DURATION
From the outrageous mind of Mel Brooks comes Young Frankenstein, the gloriously silly, lightning-powered musical comedy that celebrates everything wonderfully ridiculous about classic horror and big Broadway spectacle. When the impeccably serious Dr. Frederick Frankenstein (…that’s “Fronk-en-steen,” if you please) inherits his family’s eerie Transylvanian estate, he is determined to distance himself from his grandfather’s notorious experiments. Science should be respectable. Clinical. Sane.
Unfortunately for Frederick, destiny has other plans.
Enter the ever-eager Igor (yes, “Eye-gor”), the effervescent and stunning Inga, and a castle full of secrets waiting to be accidentally uncovered. One lightning storm and a questionable scientific choice later, Frederick finds himself knee-deep in high-voltage experiments, musical chaos, and a tap-dancing monster with some surprisingly impressive rhythm. What follows is a riot of big laughs, bold characters, campy innuendo, and pure theatrical joy.
Featuring showstopping numbers such as “The Transylvania Mania”, “He Vas My Boyfriend”, and the iconic “Puttin’ on the Ritz”, this West End smash hit turns mad science into pure musical magic.
Silly, sparkling, and shamelessly over-the-top, Young Frankenstein is a love letter to old-school horror, vintage showbiz, and the art of a perfectly timed punchline.
It’s alive… and it’s hilarious.
2 hours 20 minutes (incl. interval)
WARNINGS
Adult jokes and cheeky innuendo—Mel Brooks style. Loud chaos, surprise monster appearances, and hunchback hijinks. Mad science may cause uncontrollable laughter.

MEET THE ARTIST
STAGEBUGS PRODUCTIONS
StageBugs Productions creates joyful, high-quality theatre grounded in compassion and community. Founded in honour of our angel babies, our journey began through charity events supporting SANDS, and has since grown into a thriving independent company with four successful productions under its belt. We are dedicated to fostering rehearsal rooms where artists feel safe, supported, and creatively inspired. We believe theatre should spark connection, celebrate creativity, and bring people together. “I applaud StageBugs Productions for being smart and brave, helping to bring celebrated theatrical work to the Australian stage—shows that we otherwise wouldn’t see.” (Lilitha Reviews)
