This explosively dynamic play is based on the true events surrounding World War II. HIMMELWEG tells the chilling tale of actual events that surrounded the Theresienstadt concentration camp. Know as Operation Embellishment, a fake community was established in an attempt to misdirect the world’s view of Hitler as he addressed “the Jewish question”. The camps prisoners were forced to rehearse scenes which literally became the performances of their lives.
HIMMELWEG shows propaganda at its most deadliest.
There was no barbed-wire; there was no starving children; there were no mass graves; there was no torture; there was no gas chamber; this was not the death camp we had been told of. Had we got it all wrong. Were the Nazis actually doing something right? “Operation Embellishment” was in full effect.
“A compelling, cunningly constructed play."
