The Theatre Works' Early Career Artist Programme, designed as a bridge between tertiary education and independent artistry over the past 6 months has mentored two ensembles of recent acting graduates to develop and craft their own works. Under the expert mentorship of Steven Mitchell Wright and Belle Hansen, these emerging artists have crafted two unique performances stemming from a shared creative genesis. The result?

THE VOLITION PROJECT
The Volition Project promises an audacious theatrical spectacle where reality TV meets absurd theatre. It’s Drag Race with a Greek chorus, Survivor blended with physical theatre and the Bachelorette drunk fighting Shakespeare to the death. In this survival competition, nine stereotypical and widely insufferable people compete to win the title of....We follow the contestants through diary rooms, challenges, romance arcs, betrayal, gaslighting and a fuck tonne of DELUSION. The audience controls who plays who, making every night a wild but wonderful experience.

THE VOLITION EXPERIMENT
The Volition Experiment is a high-stakes exploration of personal and political dystopias. Six contestants lay bare their hopes and dreams in real-time challenges, exposing their triumphs and betrayals in a raw, unfiltered format. This piece scrutinises the voyeuristic nature of reality TV and its impact on our perception of humanity. The Volition Experiment is a high-voltage, thought-provoking experience that questions the boundaries of witnessed reality. A survival contest like no other.
