14 - 24 AUGUST | EXPLOSIVES FACTORY
The Rage of Narcissus
VENUE
written by sergio blanco, translated by daniel goldman
When writer Sergio arrives in Ljubljana to give a lecture on Narcissus, the first thing he does after checking into his hotel room is get on an app and look for someone to have sex with.
A few hours later, once Igor has come and gone, Sergio spots a dark brown stain on the floor. Looking closer, he sees that it's a blood stain. And looking around, he discovers more and more blood stains all over the room.
A metafictional narrative about obsession, ego, desire and the writer's psyche, The Rage of Narcissus Is a fascinating and disturbing journey into the darkness within us all.
“The drama has a lot to say about the nature of the self, the relationship between myth and reality, sexual desire and human destructiveness.” - britishtheatre.com
“The Rage of Narcissus is so layered, complex, and obsessed with questions of authorship that it felt totally possible that it could all be an elaborate death-of-the-author type fantasy.” - Exeunt Magazine

Our AT THEATRE WORKS program is for artists, companies or works that align with some but not all of our values as an organisation. We co-present these works with the independent artists and organisations. Works within this programming stream receive marketing support, technical support, free venue use and a generous box office split but largely we give them the keys and get out of their way.
