7 - 17 JUNE | THEATRE WORKS | WITH THEATRE WORKS
Uncle Vanya
VENUE
by anton chekhov
It’s 1897. We’re at the country estate of Professor Serebryakov and something’s afoot. The professor has a very young, very gorgeous wife and the family can't deal. But when he announces he’s thinking of selling the place, things get real.
Sex, gout, and existential angst are all at play as the characters struggle, hilariously and tragically, with what it means to be human.
Multi-award winning and neurodivergent director Bronwen Coleman (Dirt, Naomi), along with the Anthropocene Play Company, present a “magnificent” (LA Times) new translation of Anton Chekhov’s masterpiece.
Known for the “the power and technique”(The Age) of their acting, audiences can expect to see “Melbourne’s finest actors” (Theatre Travels) in this gripping new interpretation of a treasured classic.
