Lyric Opera New Production

21 - 30 SEPTEMBER | THEATRE WORKS | AT THEATRE WORKS
Lyric Opera New Production

VENUE

by lyric

Continuing from their acclaimed 2022 production of Iphis by Elena Kats-Chernin, Lyric returns to Theatre Works to present another new production of a rarely performed opera by an Australian composer. Lyric has a long history of reintroducing audiences to lesser-known works by Australian composers. In 2022 under the new artistic direction of acclaimed conductor, Patrick Burns, the company presented an evening exploring the Art Song of Peggy Glanville-Hicks, and a new production of Elena Kats-Chernin’s Iphis directed by Katy Maudlin.

In 2023, Lyric will once again present a new production of an opera by an Australian composer. Featuring a cast of some of Melbourne’s acclaimed opera singers alongside some of the finest developing artists under the musical direction of Lyric Artistic Director, Patrick Burns, this will be a must-see event for 2023. We look forward to announcing full details in early 2023 and exploring another great Australian Opera.
