The legendary Jennifer Vuletic stars in the world premiere season of 'The Milf and the Mistress' by Jane Montgomery GrifFIths, directed by Theatre Works' very own Di Toulson. We ask Jen some quick FIre questions about this sizzling new play about the perception of living the lesbian dream.
Q: Without giving away any spoilers, what can you tell us about The MILF and the Mistress?
A: There will a delicious deluge of luscious language, some high jinks, some low vocal tones, some things that’ll tie you in knots, and some that will release your inner latex goddess!
Q: What has been a highlight about the development and rehearsal process so far?
A: The chance to speak Jane Montgomery Griffiths’ genius super sexy words, to play in first-time director Dianne Toulson’s generous, collaborative and flexible space, and to re-enact some of the most exhilarating moments of my life. Q: What fascinates you most about the character you play in this work?
A: Ali the protagonist, is, really, all of us. She literally lays her soul (and other aspects of herself) bare, and keeps us laughing while she does it. And occasionally crying. And she’s reckless in a way I don’t think she ever imagined she could be.
Q: If you could capture the essence of The MILF and the Mistress with a song or a piece of music, what would it be?
A: Whip It by DEVO? Kidding! Although…!! Also, Fetish by Joan Jett & the Blackhearts.
Q: Who do you think this show would most strongly resonate with?
A: I think there are a whole lotta people out there (cisgender, non-binary, queer, straight) who will find something in this show that resonates and, hopefully, surprises. I think the most eager audience, however, will be women who identify as lesbians of a “certain age” (such a coy term) who have lived some (possibly not all!) of Ali’s experiences.
