Theatre Works is thrilled to invite artists, producers, and companies to submit EOIs for our 2026 program — including Mainstage, Explosives Factory, and Midsumma Festival 2026.

Whether you're an emerging voice or a mid-career trailblazer, we want bold, original, and resonant live performance that speaks to right now.

From large-scale Mainstage works to intimate, experimental pieces in our Explosives Factory — this is your chance to co-produce with one of Melbourne’s most vital independent venues.

NAVIGATING VENUE APPLICATIONS

A WORKSHOP FOR INDEPENDENT ARTISTS
Venue Applications Workshop Colour.jpg

Applying to venues can be an overwhelming process, especially when you're unsure what programming teams are looking for, how your application compares to others, or even where to begin. Whether you're an early-career artist or simply new to venue applications, this workshop is designed to demystify the process and help you approach it with clarity and confidence.

In this practical, hands-on session, we’ll break down the fundamentals of pitching your work and give you the tools and templates you need to put your best foot forward. You’ll walk away with a clearer understanding of how to frame your project, what supporting material actually looks like, and how to tailor your application for success.

A NEW OPPORTUNITY FOR EMERGING WRITERS
Emerging Reviewer Program.jpg

The Emerging Theatre Reviewers Program is a new initiative designed to support and mentor the next generation of local arts writers. A partnership between Theatre Works and TWisK, the program provides emerging reviewers with access to performances across the City of Port Phillip, mentorship, and the opportunity to be published and paid for their reviews.

No formal experience is necessary — just a keen eye, an open mind, and a desire to tell audiences what makes a show sing.
