SEED: Regional Development Residency at Theatre Works’ Explosives Factory

Theatre Works invites regional artists, collectives, and companies to apply for SEED, our new development program designed to cultivate bold new performance work from regional Australia.

Two residencies are available in August 2025 for up to 6 artists per group, offering time, space and support to develop a new work with the potential for a full season at Theatre Works in 2026.

What’s included:

1 week of venue access (6 consecutive days at The Explosives Factory)
Accommodation for up to 6 people in two shared rooms, with kitchen and bathroom facilities
$50 per person, per day per diem
$1,000 creative stipend per residency

We’re seeking original, ambitious, and collaborative ideas that reflect the unique voices of regional Australia. SEED is a place to test, create, and grow your work with the support of Theatre Works.

Eligibility:

This opportunity is open to artists living and/or working in regional or remote areas of Australia. We welcome applications from individuals, collectives, and companies working in live performance across genres.
