AUDITIONS | MEDEA: OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF BABES


Medea: Out of the Mouths of Babes is a seriously playful tragedy and as such is seeking experienced mature actors and performers to join our existing team. Actors aged 30+ of all cultural backgrounds, ethnicities, genders, sexualities and abilities are strongly encouraged to express interest to audition. This is a paid production.


Process and Form: the work is highly physical and eclectic and quite athletic in the way it moves between performance style/genre, the rehearsal process will include a lot of improvisation and exploration - as such, performers with physical, clown, improvisational and comic training or experience would be incredibly valuable to this work.


Roles: This work is a 3-hander and we are currently casting 2 of the roles. The work is an ensemble piece and all performers will play multiple roles including the children, Jason, Glauce, Creon, the Nurse and more.


People: Medea: Out of the Mouths of Babes is produced and presented by Theatre Works. Directed by award-winning contemporary theatre maker Steven Mitchell Wright with film and cinematic content by award-winning cinematographer and film-maker Chris Bennett (Underground Media).


Auditions: 20th February

Rehearsals: June 27 - July 27

Season: July 28 - Aug 20. (please note, this work is on the VCE playlist and as such a number of matinees will be required)


nb/ there will be a number of days scheduled for development and filming which are TBC and flexible based on performer availability.
