1914-1918

Sometimes it gets like that
Like thousands of them
Calling you at once
Of course you do your best
Worst are first

And sometimes everything goes quiet

And we all listen

And we wait
For that drone
That whistling
And then the thud

And you wonder where it fell
And who it got

THE GIRLS IN GREY tells the stories of three Australian Army nurses during World War 1. From Egypt, to the barren shores of Lemnos Island and the muddy sludge of the Western Front, Elsie, Grace and Alice battle horrific working conditions, witnessing the horror of war and the devastation of young men involved in frontline conflict.
