In 2017 Theatre Works is thrilled to present the work of Director Phil Rouse with his production of Lally Katz’ FRANKENSTEIN.
Premiering at Sydney Theatre Company in 2008, FRANKENSTEIN was nominated for a Queensland Premier’s Award for Best Drama Script. ‘An absorbing and thought-provoking take on a very familiar classic, and an excellent example of experimental theatre’ (Australian Stage). Rouse’s production will be a dark, yet moving portrayal of one of horrors most iconic creations.

★★★★★ THE ALTERNATIVE GIG GUIDE
“The uncompromising sharp wit of Don’t Look Away’s tight production ensures these themes will continue to turn around in your mind long after you leave the theatre. Ultimately we are faced with a question of acceptance, and a challenge to embrace the ignored.”
THEATRE PRESS
"Thanks to Katz’s fable-like writing, Phil Rouse’s bold and imaginative direction and Chantelle Jamieson’s shining performance, Don’t Look Away’s production stages the unstageable."
THE AUSTRALIAN
“Director Phil Rouse returns to Theatre Works with this dark and powerful production. Boosted by accompanying 80s pop culture references and ballads, dramatic lighting, sound and smoke haze effects, Lally and Phil have admirably brought Shelley’s iconic story onto today’s stage with refreshed relevance.”
