Fresh off the back of his sold-out Midsumma hit Fag Boy & The Married Guy (La Mama) comes acclaimed Melbourne dramatist Wayne Tunks’ new play, FLAME TREES.

Years ago, Tess left her small country town in the back of a police wagon after confessing to lighting the bushfire that devastated the area and killed her best friend. Now she’s back and most of the townsfolk aren’t happy to see her – least of all her ex-boyfriend and his new fiancé.

The story of one woman’s fight for redemption, FLAME TREES is directed by Perri Cummings and stars stage veteran Sally McLean, newcomers Hannah Gott and Matthew Candeland and James Mason from TV’s Neighbours in his theatrical debut.

Premiering at the iconic Theatre Works in St. Kilda, FLAME TREES is a modern Australian drama about fire and the fear it brings.

“The unfolding sophistication of Tunks’s very promising career is a rewarding phenomenon to behold.”
