26 – 30 September 2019
Everything is finite. A flash. A moment of impact and your world of passion and life is obliterated. Before, after, and everything in-between this moment becomes intertwined and expanded. FINITE allows you to explore the human body through a visual spectacle of lights and distorted shadows. Opening with a traumatic event, the piece explores physical and emotional difficulties, limitations of everyday life, and the sudden change of lifestyle from a split second moment of impact. It challenges the audience to imagine how the simplest things in life can immediately appear impossible. You will see the connections and disconnections between body and soul when exposed to trauma. Your fragile shell is finite. It holds you together, it holds you in.
FINITE is presented by Split Second Theatre, a theatre company made up of six Deakin University graduates. The team behind Split Second Theatre was formed through their mutual passion for visual and experimental theatre, which is illustrated through their Melbourne Fringe Festival debut show FINITE. Through their signature style, they aim to entice audiences to construct meaning of their own, rather than imposing a preconceived narrative. They have been granted this opportunity by industry professionals, the support of Deakin University and their mentors to enable this show to become a reality.
