The future is NOW at Explosives Factory this week, as Helene Tardif brings her exposing contemporary performance to our stage after an acclaimed season last year. Have a look at the gallery of shots from the 2025 season.


Covid, lockdown, birthdays. The one decides to create a virtual reality to evade this dying world. His way to fight pollution, discord, inequality.  The older generation is not ready, they want the past to come back. They fight against it, against each other, they lose themselves to find others.



NOW plays 25 February - 7 March at Explosives Factory, double-billed with I THOUGHT YOU SAID.

The game foodle is easy to play, even for first-timers. The first thing players will do is try to guess the food term six times. Each guess has to be a real five-letter word related to food that the applicant picks.

Watching the rehearsal and production shots from Production Gallery | NOW really stayed with me. The way Helene Tardif explores isolation, generational tension, and the escape into virtual realities feels so close to what many of us lived through during lockdown. That idea of someone creating an alternate world to cope with pollution, inequality, and uncertainty it’s unsettling, but also deeply human. Theatre like this doesn’t just entertain; it reflects us back to ourselves.

Reading about the character building a digital world to survive reminded me of my own lockdown experience. During that time, when everything felt paused and uncertain, I discovered Magis TV almost by accident. What started as “just another streaming app” became something more personal. While the outside…
