Let's Keep Explosives Factory Open for Indie Artists

Dear loyal supporters of Theatre Works and independent theatre,

I am inviting you to join us in supporting the future of local independent artists by investing in our little venue that is making a big splash - Explosives Factory.

Two years ago, Theatre Works opened Explosives Factory, a second venue in the heart of St Kilda that has become a hub for creative developments, rehearsals, interstate collaborations as well as a performance space for intimate cutting-edge indie theatre. We have seen groundbreaking work presented at Explosives Factory by artists and companies such as Victorian Theatre Company, Richard Murphet, The Danger Ensemble, Jane Mongomery Griffiths and many more.

We are asking for your generous support today to keep the running costs of this treasured venue as low as possible and maintain no up-front costs to independent artists.

We need to fundraise $25k before 14 December to help us cover 70% of our annual rental cost for Explosives Factory in 2024. This ambitious goal will enable us to pay artists more towards their fees and less towards rental costs.

Explosives Factory has become a venue where artists get their first break, where they debut their new work and most importantly, where they can have the freedom to experiment and take creative risks. Any amount, big or small, will make a significant contribution towards future generations of independent theatre-makers.

On behalf of Theatre Works, our board and partnering artists, thank you for continuing to champion independent theatre and for your generous support.
