Red Stitch in association with Theatre Works presents the Australian premiere of Enda Walsh’s Penelope, a surreal, pitch-dark comedy inspired by Homer’s Odyssey.

On a sun-scorched island off the coast of Greece, the beautiful Queen Penelope awaits the return of her husband from the war. Beneath her window, four men – the last in a long line of suitors – hatch a plan to win her love and escape a grisly fate.

An outrageous tragicomedy about masculinity, human endeavour and the futility of conquest, Penelope premiered at the Galway Arts Festival in 2010, and won a Fringe First Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
