Ongoing support of Theatre Works is vital to foster the development of Australian theatre and to provide a forum for all that is creative and dynamic in St Kilda and Melbourne.

Hannie Rayson, founding member of Theatre Works and acclaimed author of Hotel Sorrento and Life After George.

In 2015 Theatre Works is celebrating 35 years of staging hundreds of productions and supporting thousands of artists, producers, directors, designers, stage managers and more – who have come through our doors. Theatre Works is more than a venue; we are a not for profit organisation passionately committed to enabling independent artists to create new work. We are now inviting you to come on the journey with us through our Bridge Donor Program.

Currently we have two initiatives that need your support.

Light Up Theatre Works
Theatre Works is urgently seeking funds for maintenance to our lighting rig. Quite simply, our 2016 shows cannot go on without it. Last year both Richard Vabre (I Heart John McEnroe) and Katie Sfetkidis (Therese Raquin) were nominated for Green Room Awards - Best Lighting Design. Maintenance to our rig is imperative to continue to present work of this calibre.

2016 Artist Appeal
The recent budget cuts to the Australia Council will impact the independent sector significantly. Over the last three years Theatre Works has increased the money paid directly to artists by over 700%. Looking forward to 2016, the funding that supports artist fees, will no longer be available. Hence we have created an opportunity for you to help us ensure our artists are paid for what they do.

We're looking for 100 people to contribute $1,000 towards 2016 Artist Fees. There is no 'I' in team! Get a group together and make a pledge! With your support we've already raised $5,000. Get behind this initiative to support our artists directly.
