She Writes COLLECTIVE

Development Program for Emerging Writers

The She Writes Collective is our two-year writing program to develop female-identifying and non-binary playwrights.

Participating writers have included a cross section of gender diverse, culturally diverse, emerging and early-career writers of performance across a range of age groups and abilities, at varying stages in their playwriting practices. They’ve all had a burning idea they wanted to write into a play…

Throughout the program the Collective enables playwrights to develop their craft and process in workshops and masterclasses, to increase their knowledge of industry via guest Q&As, build community with other writers including alumni, discuss intimately the act of playwriting in a series of salons and reading sessions, foster relationships with industry and practising artists, receive organisational support and guidance, have access to space for development and readings, receive mentoring and dramaturgical support, take part in the annual Radical Acts Festival where their writing will be shared with audiences, receive one-on-one mentoring and meet a range of professional artists working across Australia.
