DAILY GRIND

Women employed in the sex industry work under appalling conditions — no sick pay, no holiday pay, no workcare and, in some of the cinemas, not even a female toilet.
DAILY GRIND looks at the life and times of Louie and Roxy, two women workers in the sex industry. It explores the issues that surround their lives and work with sensitivity and a great deal of humour.

Amidst the turmoil of war, two people are secretly in love. Mullah Abdullah is a Turkish butcher of the Moslem faith, Molly Wilks is an usherette at the local picture house. As events tragically unfold, their relationship is torn apart by the prejudice and hatred that surrounds them.
The smallest army in history has declared war on Australia. Based on the untold true story.

MISERY OF BEAUTY

The Misery of Beauty centres around the lives of four characters, a magician, his assistant, a singer and a dancer. It is a play about love, friendship, loneliness and trust. When their nocturnal world of glitter and illusion is disturbed by the discovery of some perplexing letters, a journey begins, which takes them from backstage at a nightclub in an inner bayside suburb of Melbourne, to Highston, a small country town in Victoria.
Here under the blinding sun their dreams, secrets and obsessions are exposed, as each searches for the truth behind the lies.

In 2010, Theatre Works celebrated 30 years since the company's formation and 25 years in its current home in St Kilda!
In celebration of this milestone, we are very excited to present to you our history in a wonderful, easy to reference online format.
Over the coming months, you'll find more wonderful records of the hundreds of shows and events that have been performed by and at Theatre Works since 1980.
